OSCAR WINNER LAUNCHED HIS CAREER AFTER HIGH SCHOOL IN COQUITLAM
A small piece of the four Oscars won Sunday night by the Korean film Parasite was forged in the Tri-Cities. Choi Woo-shik grew up in Coquitlam. His family immigrated to the Tri-Cities from Korea when he was 10 years old and he graduated from Pinetree secondary school in 2008. https://www.tricitynews.com/news/oscar-winner-launched-his-career-after-high-school-in-coquitlam-1.24073094
VANCOUVER'S PIVOTAL ROLE IN NETFLIX'S "TO ALL THE BOYS: P.S. I STILL LOVE YOU"
The entire movie was filmed and produced in Metro Vancouver. The cast of the film attends Adler High School, which is locally known as Kerrisdale’s Point Grey Secondary School. North Vancouver and Langley also play roles in the series, being the filming spots for the Corner Cafe and Lara Jean’s house, respectively. https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/vancouver-netflix-to-all-the-boys-2
INDEPENDENT CINEMAS ACCUSE CINEPLEX OF SHUTTING THEM OUT OF MARKET FOR TOP FILMS
Independent movie theatres across the country say Cineplex Entertainment, which owns about 75 per cent of the screens in Canada, is shutting them out of the market for top films like Oscar winners Parasite and Little Women.
IS QUEBEC'S FILM INDUSTRY 15 YEARS BEHIND HOLLYWOOD WHEN IT COMES TO DIVERSITY?
Sophie Prégent said when she first became president of the UDA six and a half years ago, she saw the huge gap in representation on Quebec screens. "I watch lots of American television," she said. She saw black actors stepping into lead roles in the U.S., but "this wasn't the case in Quebec."
NETFLIX'S DISAPPOINTING OSCAR NIGHT HAS SOME QUESTIONING ITS FILM STRATEGY
For a streaming service like Netflix, which has no interest in monetizing its films in the traditional Hollywood fashion, is it just as good to be nominated, or does the company need wins to be considered a true success in the industry?

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MOVIE CREDITS
The statement, ‘it takes a village’ is not a farce. The actors are not the only ones who make the film. There are other important people who make it possible. As these people do not feature on-screen, it is important to acknowledge them in another unique way. https://indiefilmhustle.com/movie-credits-template/

DON’T LET YOUR AGENT DICTATE THE KIND OF ACTING CAREER YOU’LL HAVE—THAT’S UP TO YOU
I want you imagine walking up to a ticket counter at an airport and saying, “Give me a ticket.” The person working there would probably look confused and respond, “I’m sorry, but I can’t help you unless you give me a destination.” So, ask yourself: Where is it that you want to go? https://www.backstage.com/magazine/article/agent-advice-how-to-chart-your-acting-career-70010/
