KELOWNA LINGUIST CREATED CONCEPT LANGUAGE FOR NEW FILM ALPHA
Typically when anthropology professor Christine Schreyer finishes concocting a new language for a film, it is eventually spoken by aliens from beyond the stars bearing messages of hope, peace, and occasionally destruction and doom. Her newest language, called Beama, was created for the recently released
film Alpha, which is about a young man separated from his tribe who befriends a lone wolf and takes place 20,000 years ago.

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission announced Thursday that large television groups must spend a larger
proportion of their revenue on Canadian content production to renew their broadcast licences.
This is the fifth installment of a series of interviews with
theatremakers who have chronic illnesses. As a theatremaker with MS, my hope is that these stories will inspire all of us, and provide new approaches to resiliency for those of us living with a chronic illness.
It is always OK to drop your agent or manager if you’re dissatisfied with the relationship. Ultimately, it’s a business relationship both parties enter into willingly, and barring any contractual obligations, it should be 100 percent
voluntary. Keep in mind that your agent and manager only make money if you book work—the rest of the time they are working for you for free—so it’s in everyone’s best interest for you to book the jobs you go out for.
