While many variables determine the outcome of an
audition, you have more control over the process than you may think. Your level of preparedness and the mindset you hold can set you up to do and be your best. It just takes a little mindfulness and practice.
You’ve all heard the phrase “acting is reacting.” We don’t act only when speaking. Watch, notice, observe and listen to your real life. We act, react, and respond all the time, non-verbally, in the silence, between the
moments.
There are two main reasons actors get called back or cast: their auditions are effortless and they think about character the way everyone on this side of the camera thinks about character which is also how the film camera thinks about character. We call back and cast actors who are effortless in the frame because they’re believable on
camera.
