FROM
THE LANDSCAPES OF SITE C TO APARTMENT SHOOTS, BC FILMMAKERS TRAVERSE SUCCESS AND FAILURE AT VIFF
VIFF stands out each year by selecting works that have no business sitting next to each other anywhere else — in an ideal world, the curation seems to say, the summing up of a year would include films that range wildly in quality, in works that are just as likely to acknowledge or eschew a background
knowledge of film history, works by artists that seem to yearn for a way beyond our current expectations of BC cinema, as well as those who just want a production job.

TEN SEASONS OF HEARTLAND GENERATE ABOUT HALF A BILLION FOR CANADA
Canada’s longest running one-hour drama, Heartland, generated almost half-a-billion dollars in economic output over its first 10

Raised in a small town in Nova Scotia, Canada, Sutherland said his sights were always set on acting. His father wanted him to have a more practical career and steered him toward electrical engineering. That was never appealing to Sutherland, who instead took the advice of his acting instructors to focus on his performances.
HOW CALIFORNIA'S REVAMPED TAX INCENTIVES HELPED AVA DUVERNAY'S 'A WRINKLE IN TIME'

THREE BRITISH ACTORS EXPLAIN WHY CASTING COUCH CULTURE ISN’T JUST A HOLLYWOOD PROBLEM
Being told to remove all your clothes in an audition. Having to wear a bikini “to prove you don’t have tattoos”. Being asked to “breast-feed” a doll. These are not stories from Harvey Weinstein’s Hollywood. They’re the experiences of British, female actors, auditioning for parts here
in the UK.
ACTORS WHO TAKE THE BUSINESS PERSONALLY ARE DOOMED TO FAIL
Taking any of this personally puts you at a huge disadvantage, because you’ll end up carrying that baggage with you into the
next audition. And the last thing you want on your mind when you’re reading for a part is the memory of how much it hurt the last time you didn’t get hired.
Your posts are a direct reflection of who you are and the kind of person you’ll be to work with
on set or in rehearsal. What do your angry political posts say about you?
