There is no shortage of A-list talent in town
right now with seven feature films currently shooting in Vancouver. The biggest star in our midst — both literally and figuratively — is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The world’s highest paid actor, who earned $64.5 million in 2016, started filming his latest, Skyscraper, Aug. 14 in Vancouver.

More than 90 members of the Casting Society of America have signed an open letter decrying the LA City Attorney’s “misguided”
prosecution of the operators of five local casting workshops – and 18 casting directors – accused of charging actors for auditions in violation of the state’s Talent Scam Prevention Act of 2009. If convicted of the misdemeanor, each could face up to a year in jail and a $10,000 fine.

The festival celebrates Latin American culture from various cinematographic discourses while promoting social interaction and cultural interchange. Each year the festival picks a country as its focus, and this year it is Cuba. The festival highlights the work of Latin American and Latino Canadian filmmakers who have produced their films in their country of origin or in Canada.
The 2017 season features an exciting lineup of four classic Shakespeare plays (Much Ado About Nothing, The Winter's Tale, The Merchant of Venice, and The Two Gentlemen of Verona) plus a short-run contemporary drama (Shylock).
