QUEER ARTS FESTIVAL
June 21-29
The Queer Arts Festival is an annual artist-run multi-disciplinary summer arts festival at the Roundhouse in Vancouver. The Jessie Awards celebrates excellence in Vancouver's professional theatre community. Come celebrate the work of the artists that create vibrant theatre in this region.
The Film and Media Showcase is a public forum for members of Cineworks, WIFTV and DOC BC. It provides filmmakers with an opportunity to share their work with other artists and the public, across
genres and in a variety of lengths, in a space dedicated to discovery, discussion and inspiration. Each screening will be followed by a question and answer session with creators, with informal conversation and networking.
This year’s festival theme is ‘Tales of War and Peace’. We see artists as important voices in the larger community, allowing us to step into the worlds they create, while also addressing the pressing questions of the one we inhabit. This year’s line-up includes an outstanding array of award-winning artists who have the courage to say what they think, to hold up a mirror to ugly truths, but also to transcend, offer hope and celebrate
creation when the world looks dispiriting.
