VANCOUVER ACTOR DISHES ON ‘PRISON BREAK: SEQUAL’ ROLE
Before Lee Majdoub would accept a role on Fox’s Prison Break: Sequel, he had to talk it over with his family. The original series was wildly popular, and a role on the nine-episode Prison Break: Sequel – which ultimately premiered on April 4 to solid ratings – would be a huge score for a Vancouver actor like Majdoub.

B.C. AND VANCOUVER LIVE UP TO THE NAME “HOLLYWOOD NORTH”
Walk or drive around Vancouver these days and you’ll see parked production trucks, trailers, and craft-services stations everywhere. That’s not new — the city has long been a film and TV production haven favored by execs and talent for its relative proximity to L.A., well-trained crews, solid infrastructure, plus urban and natural locations — but the trend seems to be accelerating.

BILLION DOLLAR LOCATION - CANADA: PRODUCTION TIES STILL BIND U.S. WITH NORTHERN NEIGHBOR
Last year, the sector generated more than 140,000 jobs and C$8.4 billion (about $6.27 billion in U.S. currency) in gross domestic product. A few years ago, the Canadian dollar had overtaken its American counterpart and production slowed down. Now the pendulum is swinging back in Canada’s favor. As the Canadian dollar sinks further, the number of U.S. productions shooting in the Great White North has risen to an all-time high.

A new report from FilmLA, the nonprofit charged with issuing film permits in L.A. On-location TV production was more or less flat — down 0.6 percent compared with the previous quarter — and commercial ad production dipped 2.6 percent.
