18 WAYS TO BE THE ACTOR EVERYONE WANTS TO WORK
WITH
If these ethics and habits are not demonstrated, not only do one’s chances of being cast dramatically decrease, but also people simply do not wish to associate with them or support them in any of their theatrical endeavors.
One of the first things you’ll realize as you become more and more of a professional working actor with television and film credits is that there is a distinct difference between being considered a comedy or drama actor and that there are times being firmly set in one genre can close the door on you for the other rather quickly.
Rather than believe in their own feelings, actors often look outside themselves, asking for suggestions and recommendations on how to play a character. And while feedback can be useful, there’s a strong likelihood that the advice these actors get will have no connection to their own feelings about the material...which means that taking the advice makes their work impersonal and therefore,
ineffective.
So 2016 wasn’t your year. But it’s almost over, which means a new one is right around the corner and is yours for the taking. To help make sure 2017 is the year of
you, we asked our Backstage Experts to share some advice on how to start the year off on the right foot. Let these tips and tricks guide you to success in the next 12 months.
