VANCOUVER INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL'S NEW VIFF HUB TAKES INDUSTRY INTO THE FUTURE
The Hub is a rebooted version of VIFF Industry that will provide, as Jacqueline Dupuis explained at a September 7 press conference at Vancity Theatre, "for experiences that go beyond film".

FILM INDUSTRY SLOWS DOWN AFTER RECORD-BREAKING YEAR
According to Kathleen Gilbert, commissioner of the Vancouver Island South Film and Media Commission, the region will likely host 10 to 12 visiting productions, and three to four local productions by the end of the year.

The September speaker is Louisa Phung, Assistant Director. Louisa Phung has been a member of the Director's Guild of Canada as an Assistant Director for over 10 years, having worked on a variety of shows, from low budget independent short films to 100 million dollar feature films. Louisa will be discussing what each level of Assistant Director does, how they interact with every department, and what they do to make your film production smooth sailing.

THE CELLULOID SOCIAL CLUB
September 21
The Celluloid Social Club (CSC) is a monthly, independent short film screening and networking event held at the ANZA Club in Vancouver, BC, running since November 1997. Each film is followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers with a networking party after the screenings.
