B.C.’s employment watchdog is looking into claims that some cast and crew members who worked on a movie shot in Metro Vancouver weren’t paid.

For the first time in a good decade, no major feature films are slotted to be shot in or around the nation's fifth-largest city this year.

DARLING NO MORE: HOLLYWOOD FLEES LOUISIANA FOR SWEETER TAXES
Louisiana's once-booming film industry — dubbed "Hollywood South" — was off by as much as 90 percent this past year, according to the Louisiana Film Entertainment Association. The drop is all attributed to the state's decision to wind down its generous incentives last July, scaring off movie makers.

NAIL THAT AUDITION with Matthew Harrison
23 & 24 July
Sides are allocated from from a selection of current auditions.  Actors prepare the scene in the class and present their audition to Matthew in front of the camera. In an open class format, in order that everyone in the class can benefit, Matthew will provide feedback and notes for the first audition.  The actor will have time to take those notes and work on them before filming a final take.  Taped audition scene will be provided via a digital link after the class.

SUMMER FILM+TV ACTING INTENSIVES FOR KIDS+TEENS
Summer Intensives are a chance for students to see the kind of progress they can make when they devote 100% of their energy to acting. As with all Biz Studio programs, summer students have about twice the one-on-one time with faculty as students at other schools (max of 6 students per class).
Each week also features workshops with local casting directors. Intensives run July 11th-15th and 25th-29th and August 8th-12th and 22nd-26th.
