MINA SHUM WINS WOMEN IN FILM ARTISTIC MERIT AWARD FOR NINTH FLOOR AT VIFF
Vancouver-based director Mina Shum was among the award recipients, recognized for Ninth Floor, a documentary on a student uprising in the late 1960s at Sir George Williams University in Montreal. Shum was named for the festival’s Women in Film Artistic Merit Award.

VANCOUVER AGENTS AT TRISKO TALENT MANAGEMENT DEFY TV STEREOTYPE
The company recently won the Georgia Straight readers’ vote for best local modelling and talent agency in the annual Best of Vancouver issue. According to Trisko, it was because each agent has a different set of skills, enabling the company to represent clients seeking work in film, TV, commercials, voice-overs, modelling, and motion capture.

WILLIAM SHATNER PLAYING MARK TWAIN ON CBC'S 'MURDOCH MYSTERIES'
The story is set in 1903. Twain’s financial fortunes had taken a hit at the time, and the story has him in Toronto to pick up some much needed cash on a speaking tour.

The Bruhanski Acting Studio  is now introducing a dynamic new training format for committed actors: Cuatra/Dramatica partners groups of four selected actors with dedicated playwrights who will create scenes and monologues designed  specifically to enhance each actor's strengths and  to provide challenges that will foster profound artistic growth. This format provides more stage time and personal attention.  All quads taught personally by Alex Bruhanski. Each quad meets twice weekly with an optional review session on weekends.
12 week semester starts Oct 26, culminating with a showcase of original works. Limited spaces available.

TEENS FILM+TV ACTING CLASSES (September to November)
We’re registering now for the fall semester of the teens Confidence on Camera class (Thursdays 4:30-6:30or Saturdays 12:00-2:00) and Intermediate On-Camera Scene Study class (Saturdays 3:00-6:00pm or Sundays 11:30-2:30pm). Biz Studio students have about twice the one-on-one time with faculty as students at other schools (max of 6 students per class). We have a legacy of training young actors who go on to work in the industry, *outstanding* instructors, and a beautiful downtown campus inside a working film & tv casting studio.
