INDUSTRY NEWS
LADNER VILLAGE BUSINESSES IRKED BY FILMING BOOM
A filming boom in a quaint corner of Delta, B.C. is leading some local merchants to complain about shoddy treatment from film crews and fewer sales due to closed roads and parking lots.
The last few weeks have been a busy time for the film industry in the Penticton area. NHL’er Carey Price was in town last month to shoot an Under Armour commercial, and A&W dropped by the Penticton
river channel last week to shoot another TV commercial.
BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH TO FANS: NO CELLPHONES, PLEASE

After 20 years of acting — and finally realizing she hates it — Rose McGowan has become Hollywood’s feminist whistleblower. To the industry, she says, “Fuck your rules.”

moments of struggle, I never sought an alternative. I simply pressed forward, accepting my own starving artist status quo and hoping that someday, I too would experience my own life-righting break.
Whether you knew it at the time or not, when you started this journey you didn’t sign up to be an actor. You signed up for the journey of an actor. If you are
not already practicing happiness, nothing outside of yourself will make you happy.
Summer Intensives
are a chance for students to see the kind of progress they can make when they devote 100% of their energy to acting. As with all Biz Studio programs, summer students have about twice the one-on-one time with faculty as students at other schools (max of 6 students per class). Each week also features workshops with two local casting directors. July and August intensives available.
