THE X-FILES REBOOT: FILMING BEGINS IN VANCOUVER ON SIX-EPISODE SERIES
The FBI’s “most unwanted” have returned to Vancouver after almost 20 years on hiatus from filming of the cult TV hit “The X-Files.”

WIFTV'S SPOTLIGHT AWARDS HONOUR B.C. WOMEN IN SCREEN-BASED MEDIA
Women in Film and Television Vancouver will shine their Spotlight Awards on some of the British Columbian film industry's most influential women.

"REBOOT" REMAKE GIVEN THE GREEN LIGHT BY CORUS TO BE MADE IN VANCOUVER
Corus Entertainment gave the green light to Mainframe Entertainment – the television division of the multifaceted Vancouver-based animation studio Rainmaker Entertainment – to produce 26 half-hour episodes of “ReBoot: The Guardian Code,” a reimagined version of the show that will be a live-action and computer generated hybrid.

KAMLOOPS FAMILY PLEDGES $5 MILLION TOWARD COST OF PERFORMING-ARTS CENTRE
The Fawcetts have decided to donate $5 million toward the cost of the proposed performing-arts centre if voters approve the proposal in a Nov. 7 referendum.

HOLLYWOOD ON ALERT: ACTORS' ETHNICITIES UNDER SCRUTINY AMID HEIGHTENED SENSITIVITIES
As Pan heads for an October 9 release, it enters a cultural landscape of increased racial sensitivities around film and television casting and a social media environment that amplifies those concerns. Warners, ironically, has been branded as insensitive for attempting to offer a color-blind, modern Pan.

TYRANNY OF THE ‘CASTING COUCH’? IT NEVER WENT AWAY, SAY ACTORS
The exploitation of actresses – and actors – is not confined to Hollywood. Equity, the UK actors’ union, is receiving ever more complaints and has established a working party to investigate and draw up a set of industry guidelines.

5 REASONS YOU MUST STOP LISTENING TO OTHER ACTORS
One of the issues with being an actor is that you are often surrounded by other actors. Listening uncritically to the “advice” that other actors give is akin to giving up your power.

STOP BEING AFRAID TO TAKE ACTION
Because the more we sit around thinking about something, the less likely we are to take action as the thinking process red flags us to all the reasons why (we believe) something won’t work.

The COMEDY Weekend Intensive prepares actors for their comedy tapings and auditions working from sides culled from the most recent comedy pilots and series which will be given in advance.  As well as investigating the approach to comedy, actors will also explore comedy archetypes and the perfect comic character to suit their specific branding.  
SUMMER CAMPS
Vancouver Young Actors School camps are starting soon! July 13-17, July 20-24, August 10-14 and August 17-21. Study on-camera audition, improv, scene study and voice overs for film and television. Work in a professional studio with some of Vancouver's top instructors. Camps run 9am-2:30pm $499 per week or $459 when you take multiple weeks.

SUMMER FILM+TV ACTING INTENSIVES FOR KIDS+TEENS
Summer Intensives are a chance for students to see the kind of progress they can make when they devote 100% of their energy to acting.
