POV: UBC PERSISTENCE OF VISION FILM FESTIVAL CELEBRATES 25TH EDITION
Believe it or not, the POV: UBC Persistence of Vision Film Festival is one of the longer running film fests in the city. It's celebrating its 25th edition this year as it showcases this year's batch of work from UBC Film Production students.

Liz Shorten of the Canadian Media Production Association, BC Producers’ Branch, described the effort as a collaborative communications initiative backed by film and television, digital entertainment, music, and magazine and book publishing industry associations.

According to a source, members of the makeup department used bronzer to darken the skin-tones of actors, including those of Asian and African-American ethnicities, to make them look Native American.

CALIFORNIA FILM COMMISSION UPBEAT ABOUT NEW TAX INCENTIVES
Amy Lemisch, Executive Director of the California Film Commission, gave a brief overview of the
new incentives package and urged producers to apply online starting May 1.

WHY YOU SHOULD TRUST THE CASTING DIRECTOR
When you get specific notes and direction from a casting director at your initial audition, make sure to integrate that into your coaching sessions and alert your coach if he’s sending you in the wrong direction. Otherwise, you’re wasting everyone’s time.

SUMMER FILM+TV ACTING INTENSIVES FOR KIDS+TEENS
Summer Intensives are a chance for students to see the kind of progress they can make when they devote 100% of their energy to acting. As with all Biz Studio programs, summer students have about twice the one-on-one time with faculty as students at other schools (max of 6 students per class). Each week also features workshops with two local casting directors. July and August intensives available.

ACTORIUM
Actorium's full Meisner technique acting program for experienced actors begins with the absolute basics of speaking and listening. Actors study where to place their attention, how to allow for natural spontaneous reactions, how to immerse themselves in a role and how to break through personal barriers to authenticity.
