BC FILM INDUSTRY GEARING UP FOR A BUSY SUMMER
The BC film industry has been bolstered now that Sony is moving its visual effects head office to Vancouver from California. At least 18 TV series are being shot in Vancouver.

LEO AWARDS: CONTINUUM LEADS WAY WITH EIGHT HONOURS AT CELEBRATION OF THE BEST OF B.C. FILM AND TELEVISION
Continuum, the sci-fi show set in both present and future Vancouver, won Best Dramatic Series as well as seven other awards. However the only acting award for the popular action series was Lexa Doig in the Best Supporting Performance by a Female in a Dramatic Series.

LOCAL FILMMAKER JESSICA VALENTINE WINS INTERNATIONAL CONTEST TO SHOOT SHORT FILM WITH UMA THURMAN
Valentine grew up in Vancouver and has lived in Bellingham for seven years. She always knew she wanted to work in the film industry. Her first film was a horror movie shot in Bellingham in 2005 called "Bloody Mary."

CALIFORNIA SEES RECORD LEVEL OF FILM TAX CREDIT APPLICATIONS
Even as it struggles to keep crews from leaving the state, California has received a record number of applicants for its film and TV tax credits. The California Film Commission said Tuesday that it received 497 applications on Monday for the state's film and TV tax credit program, 117 more than last year.
