HOLLYWOOD NORTH: ROOKIE PRISCILLA FAIA ENJOYS PLAYING COPS AND ROBBERS
It's not easy being the rookie cast member on Rookie Blue. "I'm a brand new character so yeah, it was daunting," says Priscilla Faia, who joined the cast of the four-year-old hit when it premiered on Global TV Thursday. The Victoria-born actress plays officer Chloe Price, who kicks off the season as a rookie with just eight months under her holster.

THE CENTRE FOR PERFORMING ARTS WILL NOT BE MISSED, THEATRE CRITIC SAYS
While some see the pending sale of The Centre for Performing Arts as a loss for Vancouver's arts scene, UBC theatre professor and theatre critic Jerry Wasserman says the theatre never lived up to its lofty expectations. "I don't think it leaves much of a legacy at all. This was a white elephant right from the beginning," said Wasserman in an interview with CBC Radio's Rick Cluff on The Early Edition.

HEROIC THEATERGOER SMASHES CELL PHONE, GETS THROWN OUT
We can't count the number of times we've wanted to enact vengeance on some inconsiderate audience member whose cell phone goes off during a performance. But, like most people, we just bottle that fury up deep down inside. Not Kevin Williamson. The National Review writer was in attendance at the marvelous new musical Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812 when one theatergoer's incessant cell phone use finally drove him over the edge... into vigilantism.

IT WAS THE BEST OF TV SEASONS ... AND YET ...
It was the best of seasons, it was the worst of seasons. The TV business has never been healthier, the TV business has never been in worse shape. It was a time of viewer discontent, it was a time viewer satisfaction.

Canadian screenwriters are questioning why there are far fewer women TV scribes than men in local writing rooms. The first-ever study of Canadian screenwriters from Ryerson's RTA School of Media exposed the gender discrepancy and a lack of opportunity for visible minorities as it surveyed Writers Guild of Canada members on workplace and earnings trends.

HOW TO HANDLE BULLYING AS AN ACTOR
When we think of bullying, images of school cafeterias and angry jocks generally come to mind. However, it's important to acknowledge that bullying occurs in show business all the time. It's not terribly different from a high school jock knocking down an openly gay student in the hallway. The jock envies the courage of the openly gay student. And industry professionals with their safe careers and paychecks, all envy the courage of the actor.
