Vancouver Actor's Guide Newsletter - Feb 11 2013

Published: Mon, 02/11/13

Hi ,

Happy Family Day!

We'll keep this week's intro short and sweet.

I'll start off with saying that we're doing a contest for you to win two tickets to the upcoming Crazy8s Gala film screening. All the details of the draw and how to enter is on our Facebook page so head on over there.

Last week, I stumbled across an amusing new Vancouver-based web series, How To Be An Actor . Each episode is split into various chapters, like Acting Class and Getting An Agent. Four of the five episodes have already been released so go over to their website and have a look (www.howtobeanactorseries.com). Does it hit the mark on the type of actors there are in this industry?

I hope you're enjoying the newest long weekend that our province has added into our calendar. Have a great week. Go see some shows. Meet new people. Cross things off your career check list.

MANY MAJOR THEATERS BELIEVE IN COLOR BLIND CASTING
Asian actors are historically underrepresented on the stage. Many say a regular refrain from theaters is that they believe in colorblind casting. But, as a rash of recent controversies demonstrates, in practice that often means casting white actors in Asian roles.
