VANCOUVER ACTOR, WINSTON REKERT DIES AT 63
Actor Winston Rekert - who delighted Vancouver audiences on stage at the Arts Club Theatre and global audiences as the star of Neon Rider and Adderly - died early Friday of cancer at the age of 63. Born and raised in Vancouver, Rekert got his start at the Arts Club with a single line, "Did anyone order a taxi?" in a production of Hot L Baltimore. Rekert took that taxi to stardom, soon becoming one of the country's best-known actors.

ROBERT REDFORD IS CRAZY ABOUT CANADA
Robert Redford is in the midst of a latent love affair - with Canada. The legendary sex symbol-cumhero of independent film says Canadians still have a basic respect, and sense of human decency, that his nation has lost during the past 50 years. "You can feel it," he says. "That's why I'm happy to be here, because I love Canada."
