HOLLYWOOD POWERS CANADIAN FILM AND TV SHOOTING TO RECORD HIGH
Canadian film and TV production volume hit a record high last year, thanks to Hollywood. In all, the Canadian film and TV industry, dubbed Hollywood North by local players, saw overall production levels rise 8.9% to a new record of $5.49 billion last year.

VANCOUVER-BASED BUSK FILMS CELEBRATES FIRST YEAR OF LESBIAN FILM WEBSITE

VANCOUVER TO ASK BC GOVERNMENT TO ALLOW MOVIE SCREENINGS AT RIO THEATRE
Vancouver city council voted today (January 31) to request that the B.C. provincial government allow the Rio Theatre to continue showing movie screenings without alcohol service. Current provincial legislation does not allow for a live performance venue to serve alcohol if it also shows movie screenings at other operating times.

SONY EXPANDS VANCOUVER 3D AND ANIMATION PRODUCTION FACILITIES
Sony Pictures Imageworks, the visual effects and digital character Animation Company, is expanding its Vancouver production facilities, effectively doubling its floor space. The Academy Award-winning operation is opening an additional 16,000 square feet of space in the Yaletown area, it second office in the area. Imageworks' established its Vancouver office in 2010.

INTERVIEW WITH SUPERNATURAL'S SUSAN, OLIVIA CHENG
Olivia Cheng left Edmonton to concentrate on an acting career in Vancouver and has since appeared on Eureka, Fringe and the TV movie, The Hunt for the I-5 Killer. She is also a writer and a producer, with a web series in development and behind-the-scenes projects for Fringe, Once Upon a Time and Alcatraz.
