PIRACY IS GOOD, CANADIAN INDIE PRODUCERS CONFERENCE TOLD
Piracy is good? Apparently so, a Canadian media conference was told Thursday, as illegal downloading secures indie producers more business and markets for their product. Digital media consultant Robert Tercek told the panel entitled "The Ins and Outs of Illegal Downloading" that content producers could avoid piracy by reasonably pricing their product for consumers.

MINISTRY HOLDING $3 MILLION IN DISCRETIONARY ARTS FUNDING
Minister Chong revealed that her ministry has yet to spend approximately $3.3 million in arts funding left over from the $10 million allocated this year from the 2010 Sports and Arts Legacy Fund. She noted that the leftover money has not been allocated to the B.C. Arts Council or the gaming grants, but rather will be dispersed at her discretion.

CITY OF VANCOUVER CREATING ARTS AND CULTURE POLICY COUNCIL
Vancouver city council has okayed the establishment of an arts and culture policy council. The committee, which was approved at a council meeting today (February 28), will provide advice to council and staff on matters including civic programs, services, and public outreach.
