CHANGES TO UBCP BACKGROUND EXTRA MEMBERSHIP
At a recent ACTRA National Council meeting changes to the ACTRA By-Laws were approved that will affect UBCP Background Extra Members. HOW CBS CROSSING 'THE BRIDGE' HELPED CANADA CONQUER US PRIMETIME
Toronto indie producer Adam Shully is in Los Angeles this week for the winter spec season to take another stab at U.S. primetime after his 2010 Canadian cop drama The Bridge landed on CBS. FILM AND TV INDUSTRY IN ONTARIO CONTRIBUTED $1.26-BILLION TO PROVINCIAL ECONOMY IN 2011
David Cronenberg, a 19th century police detective and flesh-eating zombies have helped Ontario's film and television industry reap a record $1.26-billion for the provincial economy last year. LEGENDARY ARTS JOURNALIST, LLOYD DYKK, DIES AT 67
This week, Dykk is being remembered for his depth of knowledge about the arts and music, his unwavering critical eye, and his sharp humour. ACTORS' EQUITY PROTESTS NON-UNION PRODUCTION OF IN THE HEIGHTS
The association of Canadian theatre actors is asking critics not to review the Toronto presentation of In the Heights, in its ongoing effort to make non-union productions less welcome in Canada.
