MOVIE THEATRE'S AREN'T DEAD YET
Thanks to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, Canadian exhibition giant Cineplex on Thursday posted its best-ever quarterly revenue and earnings. The Toronto-based chain, which operates 1,351 screens nationwide, posted a third-quarter profit of $25.7 million, up 28 percent from earnings of $20.1 million in 2010.

CRITICS SAY VANCOUVER'S MUNICIPAL PARTIES NEED TO SUPPORT ARTISTS DIRECTLY
Neither municipal party has adequately addressed the needs of the arts community, say critics. Lawyer Jonathan Baker, a former NPA city councillor and senior social planner for the City of Vancouver between 1969 and 1975, says that the arts should be supported out of general revenues, not through developers.
