BC GAMING GRANTS REMAIN UNDER FIRE, DESPITE ADDITIONAL FUNDING AND RESTORED ELIGIBILITY
While some arts organizations have reacted positively to news of the B.C. government's $15-million top-up to gaming grants and its reinstatement of eligibility to adult arts groups, the president of the B.C. Association for Charitable Gaming says she's extremely disappointed that the government did not fully restore gaming grants to the 2008/2009 level of $156 million.

ARCTIC AIR TAKES OFF WITH RED CARPET PREMIERE
The cast of Arctic Air took to the red carpet in Vancouver Tuesday night to attend the premiere screening of this new CBC television series. Arctic Air, which premiered on the small screen Tuesday night, is a one-hour adventure series set in Yellowknife (and filmed here in B.C.), about renegade bush pilots.

ERIC PETERSON, CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER UP FOR ACTRA AWARDS
Eric Peterson and Christopher Plummer, Canadian actors who move fluidly between stage and screen, have earned ACTRA Award nominations for their roles in theatre productions that were captured on film.

'MONSIEUR LAZHAR' NAMED BEST CANADIAN FILM
The Toronto Film Critics Association has named "Monsieur Lazhar" as best Canadian film of 2011. It is directed by Philippe Falardeau. He was awarded Tuesday night with the $15,000 Rogers Best Canadian Film Award at a gala dinner at The Carlu in Toronto.
