CRTC WON'T REGULATE NETFLIX CANADA
Canada's TV regulator has ignored industry calls to put the U.S. video streaming giant in its place, and will instead let the online and mobile video content market evolve. IRANIAN FILMS GO AUDIENCE-FRIENDLY, ARE EXPLICITLY POLITICAL
Circumstance is a love story about two renegade schoolgirls in Tehran who defy authority. The film won the audience award at Sundance, was shot in Lebanon, under clandestine conditions, and the footage was smuggled out of the country. "50/50" PASSES VANCOUVER OFF AS SEATTLE (BUT NOT REALLY)
The movie "50/50" is about a 27-year-old Seattle man facing cancer -- but you won't see much of Seattle in the film. And that's because, like many movies, this one was primarily filmed in Vancouver. FILM TAX INCENTIVES ARE A CHALLENGE EVERYWHERE
"I was working on 'Avengers' earlier this year, and the minute the governor started talking about changing the incentives program, they pulled out of Michigan and went to Cleveland," says David Rumble, a Michigan-based location manager.
