ROGER ABBOTT OF ROYAL CANADIAN AIR FARCE DIES AT 64
Canadian actor and comedian Roger Abbott, who captivated the country with his hilarious take on the nation's newsmakers for decades, has died. He was 64. The man best known for co-creating and starring on "The Royal Canadian Air Farce" lost a 14-year-battle with leukemia at Toronto General Hospital on Saturday.

NETFLIX BROADENS CANADIAN MOVIE TURF
Online moviestreaming service Netflix Inc. has locked up the Canadian rights to hundreds of movies from Paramount Pictures, the companies said Monday.

MOVIE OUTLET CLOSURES: RICHMOND CENTRE 6 CINEMAS, HAPPY BATS CINEMA
This past weekend has not been kind to local movie buffs, who have lost two movie outlets: a Richmond theatre and an East Vancouver video store.

GETTING UP TO SPEEDMAN
Kirk D'Amico and Daniel Iron recently wrapped principal photography on the new feature, but lead star Scott Speedman (Barney's Version) says while the movie may have an outlaw at the centre of the story and plays to big-screen theatrics, it's still steeped in Canadian culture.
